 Un piccolo palco, pochi fronzoli, Make-Up assente, qualche centinaia di spettatori e solo una decina di canzoni da eseguire, questi erano i primi live di Marilyn Manson risalenti agli albori della carriera, nei primi anni novanta quando ancora si portava dietro i suoi fidati Spooky Kids.
Solo un paio di date però e le cose sarebbero presto cambiate.
Il primo cambio di formazione seguì, infatti, poco dopo l'inizio del Tour quando Olivia Newton Bundy e Zsa Zsa Speck vennero rimpiazzati rispettivamente da Gidget Gein e Madonna Wayne Gacy.
I primi concerti ufficiali della band davano la possibilità al pubblico di ascoltare tutti quei pezzi che allora erano ancora sconosciuti al grande pubblico o che si potevano reperire solo su vari Demos poichè la pubblicazione di "Portrait Of An American Family" era ancora molto distante.
Nel 1994, a pubblicazione avvenuta, molto delle canzoni presenti prima in scaletta scomparvero dovendo lasciare il posto alle 11 tracce del primo album della band e alle B-Sides pubblicate sugli unici due singoli estratti.
Assieme a loro "scomparve" anche Gidget Gein un altro membro degli Spooky Kids rimpiazzato dallo storico Twiggy Ramirez che rimase al fianco del Reverendo per i successivi 7 anni.
 
 La scenografia, come era lecito aspettarsi, era pressochè assente.
Un piccolo palco avvolto nel buio, un telone per coprire la band durante l'Intro e la celebre "Pogo's Play House" sullo sfondo.
Mancavano anche tutte le trovate sceniche e le idee geniali che segneranno gli show successivi di Manson.
Il "Portrait Family Tour" iniziato il 27 Dicembre 1994 si concluse solo pochi mesi dopo, nel Marzo 1995.
Le ultime date furono un'ottima occasione per gustarsi in anteprima "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" uno dei pezzi che segnarono il successo della band.
